I study the chemistry of phosphorus as it relates to the origin of life: the geochemistry, cosmochemistry, and prebiotic chemistry of this element. Our research has focused on the influence of reduced oxidation state phosphorus compounds to the origin of life, including studies of meteoritic delivery of phosphorus. In addition to P chemistry I also investigate meteorite fluxes, lightning metamorphism, thermodynamic models of geochemical and cosmochemical systems, and the search for life elsewhere.
